About Traveling to the Bahamas…?
Question by Fizzy5xx: About Traveling to the Bahamas…?
I already have another 2 questions about the Bahamas but I have another! Is there a boat or ferry between the islands? I would like to stay on Nassau but my family is unable to fly. I live in New Hampshire. I know there is a boat to Grand Bahama Island from Florida, but I need a way to get to Nassau from there. I am going to stay there 5 days, but I don’t mind having to travel for a few days. I am allowing 2-3 days travel there, and 2-3 days travel back and 5 days in between. And advice is appreciated

The answer here is NO. There are no ferries between Nassau and Grand Bahamas Island.
There’s a mailboat that goes 2x a week (this would not be helpful since you’re only staying 5 days) and the mailboat takes 9 hours to travel one way. You would just get to Nassau and have to turn around later that same evening for another 9 hour ride.
Why is your family unable to fly??? is it more that they are unwilling to fly??
here’s the info for the mailboat.

Don’t trust posted schedules.. call them.. the schedules change week to week. Day to day.

Which cruise would you rather go on? Bahamas Vs. Eastern Caribbean?
Question by Diane: Which cruise would you rather go on? Bahamas Vs. Eastern Caribbean?
And WHY based on where it stops and what you know about the cruiseline/ship. (i’m not going to write any of that additional information)
Cruise #1: MSC Cruises – Orchestra
-Cayo Levantado(Samana), Dominican Republic
-Phillipsburg, St. Maarten
-St. John’s, Antigua
-Nassau, Bahamas
Cruise #2: Norwegian Cruiseline – Norwegian Majesty
-Nassau, Bahamas
-Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
-Great stirrup Cap, Bahamas
-Port Canaveral, Florida
These both depart in March 2009 and I need a bit of help deciding which one I would like to go on! Pros/Cons would be nice along with your opinion!
Thankyou! :] I appreciate all of your help!

Definitely the first.
We sailed on the MSC Lirica in 2005, on a longer Eastern Caribbean cruise. We hit Puerto Rico, St Maartens, St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, Tortola, and then Nassau as the last stop. Nassau was nice, but I’d pass up the other Bahamian sites any day for a chance to go to those other places.

How can I still have fun, but not spend a fortune on my Cruise?
Question by Al: How can I still have fun, but not spend a fortune on my Cruise?
My best friend and I got a great deal on a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas in March. We will be aboard the Norwegian Majesty and stopping in Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay, Grand Bahama Island, and Port Canaveral.
I am financially independent from my parents (my friends going are not)and money will be tight for me. I will only be taking about $ 200 for spending purposes (some of which will go towards parking and gas) and i really could careless about soveiners, drinking, or doing alot of the tourist sightseeing that cost money. I registered to do some private island snorkeling in Great Stirrup Cay for $ 20, but am affraid that when we are on the ship is when I will get into trouble.
Never been on a cruise and am wondering what to avoid buying/doing. Wondering if i want to drink can i sneak stuff in in my luggage? Anything come to mind that i should pick up and bring, so i don’t end up spending money on the cruise buying (sunblock, sea sickness medicine) Any cruise advise would be great. Im a little nervous
