Marsh Harbour which is on the Island of Abaco in the Bahamas has all of it’s activities, accommodations, transportation, etc. on line. The city of Freeport which is located on the Island of Grand Bahama is Very near to Marsh Harbour and is accessible by Ferry.

The Ferry Company is “Albury’s Ferry”, located in Marsh Harbour. Tel Number (242) 367 3147.
You have made a very good choice of Islands..

Best way to get from Freeport to Great Abaco?

i recently inherited some land in the Bahama Palm Shores in Great Abaco and would like to see it when I come down to a wedding in Freeport. What’s the best way to get between the islands? Is there a cheap flight service? I’ve seen a couple ferries that goes between McLean’s Town, Grand Bahama and Crown Haven, Great Abaco, but is this going to take all day? If not, how long is the drive from Crown Haven to Marsh Harbour? Thanks!!!

    A long drive first….

It is possible you can get from Freeport to Nassau via the Abacos without flying by using two ferries and with lots of driving.

I wouldn’t say it is practical nor can attest to the reliability of the services so check it out first.

As you mention, there is a twice daily ferry from Crown Haven, at Abaco northern most settlement to Mclean’s Town on GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND which is about 50 miles from Freeport. Supposedly there are busses from there to Freeport. They can be reaches at Pinder’s Ferry Service 242-365-2356.

And another Ferry Service from Sandy Point on Abaco S.W. tip to NASSAU. They have a website bahamasferries.com

    Regional Air Freeport

    Regional Air (242) 361-5614
$ 80 each way – to Marsh Harbour (will stop at Treasure Cay Airport if 2 passengers or more want to go there)
They are located in a portable building half way between the Domestic and Internationl terminals in Freeport.
