Cruise to Port Lacaya, Freeport, in the Grand Bahamas. Anyone been this year? Need info plz!?

Question by TiaRanita: Cruise to Port Lacaya, Freeport, in the Grand Bahamas. Anyone been this year? Need info plz!?
I heard the hurricane caused damage and not everything is up and running. How much is there to do while ashore? Are the shopping facilities open-International Bazaar & Market Place?

Most tourist places are expensive, but is it really off the chart expensive? I guess I am what you call a tight wad………want all the bang I can get for the buck!! Any tips on free or inexpensive things to do/see.

What about taxi’s? What are the normal rates?

What hotel or resort did you stay at? Hidden fees if any?

Port taxes?

I know these are a lot of questions, even if you can only answer one would be helpful……TIA

well the hurricanes have damaged most of freeport(thats why i moved to florida)and u can go to the beach or u can walk around port lucaya or u can go swimming with the dolphins, or scuba diving. but the bazaar is fully closed down, so u should not go there.and if u want to be at the beach without a bunch of people u should rent a scooter or something and go east to bishops resturant..they have good food and no one is ever at the beach
and taxis r ore expensive then america because r gas prices r higher.
and right across the street from port lucaya is a beautiful hotel called our lucaya…i dont know about the hidden fees
port taxes..well we dont pay no taxes what so ever.
have fun !!
and u should go to chicken nest in west end and ask for lova and rosey..food is goood

Has anyone heard of Sunnybahamas.com?

Question by pittmantara: Has anyone heard of Sunnybahamas.com?
This is a website that offers vacations to the bahamas for 59.00 for 7days and 6 nights, they say the hotel is expecting you to spend more money at their hotel etc which is why it is so cheap. I am skeptical but would like to know if anyone else has used them or heard of them.

Anyone who has been to Freeport (Bahamas), I have a question!!!?

Question by HSN: Anyone who has been to Freeport (Bahamas), I have a question!!!?
Is there in Freeport any open restaurant where you can grill meat? I am NOT looking for a steakhouse but for a nice, open barbecue restaurant where they grill any type of meat and you can choose whichever you want.. or at best you grill it in your own table like korean barbecue : http://michellesath.tumblr.com/post/16800443976

I am planning to go there with my friend this sunday and we absolutely need to know if there is something similar to this, preferably in front of the beach with a nice view.

Thanks

Does anyone know about a company representing themselves as Caribbean Cruise Lines?

Question by jump4joy: Does anyone know about a company representing themselves as Caribbean Cruise Lines?
Yesterday I got a call from an 800 number asking me to complete a 3 question survey on my political views that would qualify me for a free 3 day, 2 night cruise for two to Grand Bahama Island. As soon as the survey was completed I was transferred to Caribbean Cruise Lines and the agent told me all he needed was my credit card number to pay port fees and taxes in the amount of $ 59 per person to register me for the free cruise, and there would be no further charges. Later that afternoon, I researched the company and it turns out this is a high pressure sales company, not an actual cruise line, and they have had over 1000 complaints against them…just warning everyone DO NOT make the mistake I did, as they do not disclose everything in the sales pitch and you will be disappointed to find out they want additional money for fuel when you board, and it may be tied to attending a lengthy sales presentation that they don’t tell you about until after your card is charged.

WOW.. another SUCKER bites the dust. I was starting to woner why the something for nothing crowd had not asked about these ‘free’ cruises for almost 2 weeks now. simplyh put.. YOU DIDN’T WIN SH*T

It IS a free ‘cruise” if you want to call it that.. the ship is an old, converted North Sea Car Ferry and it’s filled with some of the best BOILER ROOM SALESMEN in the Business. If you are stupid enough to take the trip you will contantly be bombarded with offer to buy wharever it is they are selling.. condos in Panama or GOLD or cheap STOCKS or TIME SHARES… and it’s constant.

The people who take that ‘free cruise’ look like the same losers you see in any Casino.. sitting there feeding the slots.. FAT, WHITE and NOT TOO BRIGHT.. and the typical something for nothing Americans the whole world hates. When that ship docks and the people leave, it looks like an International convention of white trash has just come to town

If you REALLY want to take a cruise.. then pick the cruiseline of your choice and the ship of your choice that offers what you want and goes to a place where you want to go and BUY the trip.. it will be cheaper than that ‘FREE” trip you ‘won’

Q&A: Anyone who has stayed in the Bahamas…?

Question by K: Anyone who has stayed in the Bahamas…?
Preferably on either Treasure Cay or Grand Bahama Island. I can’t decide which island to stay on. I want it to be pretty secluded but at the same time I want there to be stuff to do besides go to the beach, and I can take 2 day trips to the other island, but I don’t know. Help please!

Best answer:

Answer by bharpman
Grand Bahama is crowded and very touristy. I prefer Treasure Cay it is secluded, the fishing is great and the diving is awesome. You can book excursions to other out Island to do some great sight seeing But beware, night life is almost zero on the out islands so if your looking to party then stick to Grand Bahama. I personally prefer the smaller islands because I’m into diving and fishing.

Has anyone been on Caribbean Cruise Line?

Question by IndianOutlaw: Has anyone been on Caribbean Cruise Line?
I would like to hear from someone who went on a 7 day/ 6 night with Caribbean Cruise Line to the Grand Bahama Island. What did you think?

Best answer:

Answer by Joni
There is no such cruise line,It is a SCAM. You might get a cruise. but with a big catch, you spend the whole time being pressured by sales people selling time shares for prices more than you pay for a house. If you are gullible they will sell it to you even if you can’t afford it at interest rates that are illegal in the US
