Q&A: Carribean vacation: just want nice pools at the hotel and great beaches?
Question by Lu: Carribean vacation: just want nice pools at the hotel and great beaches?
Hi there, I’m planning a family vacation to the Carribean. We have a 3 year old and just want to unwind. We’d prefer a place where it’s kid friendly but if the beaches and pools beat it we’ll go there.
We originally booked a trip to the Grand Bahama at Sheraton hotel, but due to the possibly comming hurricaine, put it on hold.
So please let me know where we could go, I’d appreciate that very much. We are not planning to party or anything, but would like to see locals perform in the evening, bonfires, maybe horseback riding and just discovering the island on a rented jeep or something..
Thanks again

Consider the St. Kitts Marriott. This hotel has 3 great pools. The island has plenty to explore, there is horseback riding, thursday night bonfires at a place called Mr. X’s,great snorkeling, and lots of secluded beaches. The island is in the process of major development and offers a more ‘island’ atmosphere. There are great restaurants, but the best place to stay by far is the Marriott.

Grand Bahama’s:ever been? What hotel recommendations affordable for the average joe? best part of the island
Question by jlouise5: Grand Bahama’s:ever been? What hotel recommendations affordable for the average joe? best part of the island

We were married at Our Lucaya near Port Lucaya (5 years ago). The resort has changed hands but is now an all-inclusive, making it very affordable. The Port Lucaya area is really nice, and safe, with day trips for snorkeling, sailing, diving leaving from the marina right there. That area is the best part of the island, the area near the straw market can be pretty scary.

Having been at the Westin and comparing the price to other hotels, I’d say that’s your best deal.

Caribbean Reef Sharks frequent this spot off the southern coast of Grand Bahama Island. They are large, powerful creatures that command respect, but also deserve protection. Almost a third of all sharks and rays found in the open ocean are threatened with extinction, due to overfishing, bycatch and finning. Shot, edited, scored and narrated by Jeff Nesmith. Grand Bahama Hotel Question: Any w/o carpets?
Question by R1980: Grand Bahama Hotel Question: Any w/o carpets?
I know, an odd question but a member of our family has allergies to carpeting. We’re going to do a ferry from FL to Grand Bahama, but were wondering if anyone can recommend hotels etc that have tile or wood floors in the rooms (no carpet). Thanks!

Answer by Nautical Wheeler
YOu will just have to contact the hotels individually or SEE A TRAVEL AGENT.. they have that kind of information… Chances are you will find floors of slate tiles or brick before you find floors of wood, though. Wood floors or wood anything else is not too popular becasue of the TERMINTES in the Caribbean
